O'Hare jets bump, but no one injuredDecember 14, 2000 BY ROBERT C. HERGUTH TRANSPORTATION REPORTERTwo planes struck each other on the ground about 9 p.m. Wednesday at O'Hare Airport, but no one was injured. The left wing tip of a Turkish Airlines Airbus 340 clipped the tail of a Northwest Airlines DC-9 while the Turkish plane was turning onto a taxiway, preparing for takeoff, said Chicago aviation spokeswoman Monique Bond.
"The wing came to rest on the back tail of the Northwest DC-9," Bond said. "There was no damage to either aircraft. It's really nothing. It's a fender bender. It sounds worse than it was."
